about

-----------------------ENGLISH---------------------------

We are deeply honored and happy to release this new album by Notstandskomitee, a true pioner of electronic music. Notstandskomitee is a an electro-industrial project by the German electronic musician Malte Steiner. It started in 1991 as a side-project to the industrial outfit Das Kombinat and has developed to one of Steiner's more extensive musical projects.
For Notstandskomitee, Steiner has developed an unique style of IDM working with different kinds of electronics, used in a variety of combinations to create his own unique rhythmic sound, where the source-material goes from analog via digital to software-based systems. Notstandskomitee concerts are supported by synthetic visual computer animations, made by Steiner especially for his live concerts. In this way the sounds and the images become a close connected entity, which is an important part of the Notstandskomitee identity. Notstandskomitee has played concerts world wide and made releases on cassette, CD, vinyl as well as online.

Malte Steiner (born 1970) is a German media artist, electronic musician and composer. Steiner started creating electronic music and visual art around 1983, developing his own vision of the interdisciplinary Gesamtkunstwerk, working with, and not limited to, film, theater, video games, interactive installations and sound. In 1986 Steiner took a course in electroacoustic music in Lüneburg by H.W. Erdmann and gave his first live performances in the following years, e. g. in Germany, France and Belgium. Steiner was a co-founder of the legendary Hörbar club for experimental music located in Hamburg (DE), which opened in 1991 and is still active today.
In 2011 Steiner moved to Berlin, where he opened his own nonpublic media lab Block4 to create and produce his own music projects as well as mastering and mixing for other artists. Steiner has since 1995 released his music on cassette, vinyl, CD and online. In 1998 he started creating electronic art and installations. In 2003 he created several web-art projects including a collaborative visual networking environment, shown in the Java museum in Sofia, Bulgaria. Steiner has additionally performed concerts, created exhibitions and workshops as well as done residencies in Europe, Asia and USA.
Steiner's musical projects are besides Notstandskomittee, primarily the experimental electro-acoustic Elektronengehirn, the industrial noise project TMS and the live coding duo codepage (both together with Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen), as well as Akustikkoppler (with Matthias Schuster), Das Kombinat, Embedded Artist (with Wolfgang Spahn). Steiner organized for years the Pure Data Berlin patching circle at C-base in Berlin (DE). Steiner has additionally done lectures, radio-features and Pure Data workshops, e. g. for Access Space, Sheffield (UK) and Vivid, Birmingham (UK), as well as for the multimedia composition class of Georg Hajdu at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, HfbK Hamburg (DE), and latest at the Piksel Festival in Bergen (NO).
